Heroes of the Storm

These days there are hundreds of online games to choose from, but one that stands out from the crowd is “Heroes of the Storm.” Created by Blizzard Entertainment - the same company responsible for strategy game classics like Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft,  the creator of one of the longest-running massive multiplayer online games, World of Warcraft, and one of the top team shooters, Overwatch – “Heroes of the Storm” is undoubtedly produced by people who truly know their craft.

In this game, you play on a team, taking on one of six various roles: tank, bruiser, support, healer, melee assassin, and ranged assassin. Many skills will be familiar to gamers, but “Heroes of the Storm” adds in some unique features. Some heroes don’t engage on the battlefield, instead of staying back and manipulating the battle arena to try and benefit their team. One particular character is played by two people at once. Trying to figure out how to best manipulate these unusual features adds a new layer of depth to the already intense combat, and makes it stand out in comparison to other battle arenas. There’s a wide variety of heroes to choose from, assuring that anyone will be able to find one that suits their style of play.

In the game, there’s a broad range of battlegrounds to choose from. Each battlefield changes what your objective might be. You might be attempting to take control of an object to benefit your team or directly damage the enemy.

There are various modes to choose from. Quickplay if you want to hop right in and give it a try. Unranked if you don’t want the pressure, or perhaps if you want to try something different than normal without it affecting your rank. You can play against A.I. if you don’t feel like PvP. You can customize it yourself, or you can randomize everything. Play whatever way you want.

Underneath all of this is some fun story lore. Every hero has a story.

Throw out everything you thought you knew about battle arena games, because “Heroes of the Storm” is here to cut its own path while still keeping a balanced and competitive game. Blizzard tracks which heroes are constantly used, and when they find any issues that might make it unbalanced, they seek to resolve them, giving players a truly wide and diverse cast of characters they can choose.
