madVR

madVR is a DirectShow video renderer that allows you to achieve very high image quality when playing video in Media Player Classic - Home Cinema and other players, because it does its processing on the graphics card (GPU) with high-quality algorithms. The picture quality madVR can achieve is generally higher than that of other renderers such as Haali, VMR, Overlay and EVR. Not only that, its "smooth motion" option makes playback more fluid when the frame rate of the video does not match the refresh rate of the display. This renderer also provides high quality chroma upsampling and YCbCr -> RGB conversion. There is even a separate tool for setting up RGB levels, which you will find in the folder with the renderer, together with the madTPG test pattern generator for display calibration.

But that's not all, madVR offers advanced video scaling algorithms (such as Lanczos, Jinc and NGU), gamut and gamma correction for calibrated displays, HDR tone mapping, and a full 16-bit processing queue with dithering. Besides Media Player Classic - Home Cinema, this renderer can also work with Zoom Player, PotPlayer and KMPlayer. In order to install the application on your computer, just unpack the archive and run the install.bat file. After that, select madVR as the video renderer in your player. madVR is freeware by Mathias Rauen (madshi); the stable release dates from 2018, and test builds are still published.
