MEGAsync

MEGA is one of the best-known cloud services for personal data storage built around end-to-end encryption, and it provides its users with a large amount of disk space. A free account currently starts with 20 GB of base storage (extra space can be earned temporarily through bonuses), and paid Pro plans raise the limit to several terabytes together with a larger transfer quota.

High speed of file exchange (even in case of parallel synchronization of multiple folders) is achieved because the client runs several uploads and downloads at the same time, and its transfer manager lets you pause and resume transfers and limit the upload and download speed. The security of personal user data is ensured by so-called end-to-end encryption. All files are encrypted on the client device before they are uploaded and decrypted only by the client devices themselves, so MEGA's servers store only encrypted data and the keys stay with the user.

In order to access and manage the service from a computer, users need to download and install the MEGAsync client program, now called the MEGA Desktop App, which synchronizes files between a computer and MEGA cloud storage; MEGA's mobile apps do the same for tablets and smartphones. Access to the tools and settings of the service is provided through a user account, which can be created on the official website of the developers or when installing the client application itself on your computer. MEGA also offers a browser extension that allows you to use the service from your browser.

MEGAsync keeps folders on your PC in sync with MEGA cloud storage and protects the files with end-to-end encryption.

In addition to two-way synchronization of selected folders or the whole Cloud Drive, the MEGA Desktop App can back up computer folders to MEGA in real time, stream audio and video files from MEGA to your favourite media player, and upload files straight from the Windows Explorer context menu. Using this client, you can also share individual folders and files with other users through links or shared folders. MEGA itself additionally offers encrypted chat and video meetings in its web and mobile apps, while the desktop app focuses on transfers, sync and backup.
