mp3splt is a neat little program that helps users split multiple audio formats from their files. The program allows a user to take something as simple as a video and rip the audio from it without needing to decode or convert the file. mp3splt can do a lot more than rip audio files and comes loaded with features that I didn't know I needed until I came across them. The features I noticed most were the following.

Features:

  • No decoding required
  • Recursive multiple files split.
  • Audacity labels file support
  • Split by a fixed time length
  • Split in equal time tracks
  • Split concatenated mp3 files
  • Specify output directory for split files
  • ID3v1 & ID3v2 tags support
  • Free to use

There isn't much to say about mp3splt other than it does what it's supposed to. I have never been a fan of needing to decode or convert audio files. More often than not, I'll find a cool song on a site, download the video and just have it play in the background while I listen to the music. mp3splt allows me to take that same video and take the audio without any technical processes. What makes mp3splt even better is the fact that I can specify the time and point where I want to take the audio from. I know I'm not the only one that has found a good song on a popular website, but the person who made the video put a ridiculous intro on the video that makes you not want to listen to the audio over and over again. mp3splt allows me to completely bypass that annoying introduction and take the part that I want to listen to. mp3splt supports mp3, Ogg, and FLAC files as well, so it's very versatile and adaptable no matter what format you are dealing with. Installation and use are very simple and easy to do. The file size is small, so that you will be up and running in under a minute. I's recommend this to anyone that likes to get their audio content from the internet.
