PhotoKey Pro
PhotoKey Pro is a green screen (chroma key) photo editor by FXhome for removing and replacing backgrounds in studio and event photos.
PhotoKey Pro is a photo editing app that introduces a new perspective to creative possibilities using the power of greenscreen and bluescreen photography. The interface is beginner friendly as well as suited to expert photographers, with many useful features that can improve the overall quality and presentation of images.
PhotoKey was developed by FXhome, the British company behind HitFilm and Imerge, and its last edition is PhotoKey 8 Pro. It was sold as a paid program with a free trial whose exported images carry a watermark, and it is used by event, studio and creative photographers. PhotoKey 8 Pro can batch process hundreds of green screen photos automatically and export them to a hot folder, show a live preview on a second monitor for clients, and deliver images by email or upload them to FTP. It works both as a standalone program and as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop CC. FXhome has since stopped selling its software: the FXhome website was taken down in January 2025 and new registrations are no longer possible, so PhotoKey is no longer developed.
PhotoKey Pro has an automatic feature that removes unwanted green light spilling onto the subject and replaces it with the ambient lighting of the new background, giving the image a more convincing look. A light wrap tool lets background light bloom naturally onto the foreground, and facial recognition helps keep skin tones natural. There are also supporting functions to adjust brightness, contrast, masking, and light manipulation.
