PhotoScape

PhotoScape is a graphical editor with a wide range of features. To be precise, the program combines a tool for convenient viewing of images, a powerful enough editor, a tool for batch editing, a tool for creating collages and animated GIF images, as well as a utility for convenient printing of images. It is developed by MOOII Tech, and below is a brief overview of its main modules.

The program is free of charge for all users, including commercial use, and it is available in many languages. After launch you see a tabbed interface, and on the first tab the main menu of the program in the form of a circle with interactive icons (see screenshots). Each icon opens one of the tools: Viewer, Editor, Batch Editor, Page, Combine, Animated GIF, Print, Splitter, Screen Capture, Color Picker, Rename and Raw Converter.

The Viewer tab contains image viewing functions. In a file tree browser you need to open the folder where your pictures and photos are stored. However, you can simply drag and drop image files. So, all your photos are in front of you, and now you need to double-click to open one of them (it will open to the full screen) and use the "Left" and "Right" keys on the keyboard to flip through the rest.

PhotoScape provides a comprehensive suite of tools for image editing, collage creation, and GIF creation, all in a free, user-friendly package.

On the "Editor" tab at the bottom of the open image you will see a good set of tools for correcting and modifying the image. Here you can apply a frame, adjust brightness, color and white balance, correct backlight, sharpen, crop and resize the photo, and apply filters and effects such as bloom and film effect. It is also possible to overlay various objects, from text and balloons to geometric shapes and small icon images. With PhotoScape you can also get rid of the red eyes in the photo.

The "Batch Editor" tab applies the same frame, resizing and adjustments to a whole set of photos at once. The "Page" and "Combine" tabs merge several photos into one image: Page places them into a layout template, while Combine joins them in a row, a column or a checker pattern. "Animated GIF" creates dynamically changing images in which each frame is a separate photo added by you. In the main menu mentioned above you can find even more useful tools - automatic renaming of files, splitting of images into parts, a screen capture function, a color picker and a RAW converter. PhotoScape 3.7 is the last version of the classic program; for Windows 10 and macOS the developer recommends PhotoScape X.
