SNMPWalk

SNMPWalk is a free command-line tool for Windows that allows network administrators to quickly and easily read information from network devices such as routers, switches, printers and servers. It walks the SNMP tree of a managed device and lists every variable that is available for reading, together with its value, so users can see which MIBs the device supports and retrieve detailed information about it.

SnmpWalk allows for convenient and efficient retrieval of multiple pieces of data from SNMP-enabled devices.

• Support for SNMPv1/v2c/v3: SNMPWalk is compatible with all three versions of SNMP; the version is selected with a command-line parameter.

• SNMPv3 Security: for SNMPv3, SNMPWalk supports MD5 and SHA authentication and DES, 3DES, IDEA, AES128, AES192 and AES256 privacy, with parameters for the security name, passwords, engine ID and context.

• Full or Partial Walk: SNMPWalk can scan the whole variable tree of a device or only a part of it between a start OID and a stop OID, which filters out unnecessary information.

• All Variable Types: SNMPWalk reads and displays all SNMP variable types, including integers, strings, object identifiers, IP addresses, counters, gauges and time ticks.

• CSV Export: with the -csv parameter SNMPWalk writes its results in CSV format, which makes it easy to open them in a spreadsheet or process them with other tools.

• IPv4 and IPv6: SNMPWalk can query devices over both IPv4 and IPv6, with a configurable remote port and timeout.

• Scriptable: as a console application driven by command-line parameters, SNMPWalk can be called from batch files and scripts to automate regular data collection.

• Flexible Configuration: 23 command-line options set the remote host, port, timeout, SNMP version, community string, OID range and SNMPv3 credentials, so the tool fits different networks and needs.

• Companion Tools: SNMPWalk is part of the SnmpSoft Tools set together with SnmpGet, SnmpSet and SnmpTrapGen, which read and write single values and send SNMP traps.

• Windows Support: SNMPWalk runs on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10 and on Windows Server 2003 to 2019.

• Small and Portable: the download is a small ZIP archive with SnmpWalk.exe and a ReadMe file; no installation is required.
