SoftPerfect Connection Emulator (SCE) is a WAN emulator used to test how well a piece of software will perform under a number of different conditions. SoftPerfect is particularly useful when the piece of software needs to run using low-speed communication, as it will imitate a network with lower latency and bandwidth.

It is compatible with PCs with an OS of Windows XP or higher. However, there is no indication of possible upgrade/compatibility to support other Operating Systems.

SCE allows you to specify a certain correlation when testing variable latency, indicating how much the current value has depended on the prior one. This sort of feature will help to cut down on the randomness associated with the sequence.

The Profiles tab allows for test settings to be saved, with an option to have multiple settings saved, each with specific configurations. The Latency tab offers a choice of latency or delay, with the site noting that if traffic is processed in both directions, then latency will be applied twice; once when the packet goes out, and again when the reply is received.

The Corruption feature allows the user to specify which packets they would like corrupted. The user may even specify a certain percentage of the packets they would like corrupted. In contrast, the Duplication feature allows for packets to be duplicated when sent out or received. Also, with the Capture feature, logging packets can be sent to a Libpcap file for further review.

Adjustment of bandwidth limits, packet loss simulation, and use of different data flows.
Features:

  • Able to run on any PC with Windows XP or higher
  • Can simulate both fixed and variable latency
  • Able to lower/restrict the connection speed
  • Multiple simulation profiles supported with program
  • Can restrict the profile to a particular IP stream
Windows XP or higher operating system required
Any PC compatibility
Simulation of fixed and variable latency

SoftPerfect Connection Emulator (SCE) is a WAN environment emulator for network application developers, system administrators and network engineers. It is designed to emulate a wide variety of network connections, including basic broadband, cable modem, DSL, ISDN, dial-up, and leased line connections. It supports both IPv4 and IPv6 networks and can be used to simulate a wide range of LAN and WAN speeds and latency. SCE is an ideal tool for testing and debugging applications and services, as well as for providing virtual LAN environments for training and educational purposes.

SoftPerfect Connection Emulator is a great software for developers needing to simulate a real network environment. It's easy to set up and the graphical user interface is very intuitive. It allows for a great degree of flexibility in creating different network topologies. I've found it to be a great tool for debugging network protocols and testing applications. The amount of traffic that can be simulated is very impressive, and the results are accurate. The logging feature is also useful for troubleshooting. I'm impressed by the number of features this software offers. All in all, SoftPerfect Connection Emulator is a great software for developers.

This is a WAN emulator used to test the performance of software under various conditions. It is particularly useful for evaluating the performance of software that needs to function with low-speed communication, as it replicates a low-latency and low-bandwidth network. It is compatible with a PC running Windows XP or higher, but there is no indication of possible upgrading or compatibility with other operating systems. This tool allows you to indicate a certain correlation during tests with variable latency, indicating how much the current value depends on the previous one, which helps reduce the level of randomness associated with the sequence. It offers a corruption function that allows the user to specify the packets they want to corrupt, even specifying a certain percentage of the packets to corrupt. However, the duplication function allows duplicating the packets when they are sent or received.
