Sun ODF Plugin is a plugin for Microsoft Office suite, which allows you to open and save documents in ODF format. This format is used by the OpenOffice office suite, which is one of the best free alternatives to Microsoft Office. Structurally and technically, ODF documents differ greatly from the DOC and DOCX formats. The peculiarity of OpenDocument format is that it is an archive consisting of XML-files with content and metadata. However, we will not go into the analysis of technical features. It is enough for an ordinary user to know that without installing additional software (for example, this plugin) he will not be able to open ODF in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The integration of Sun ODF Plugin into the office suite is done automatically during the installation process. No additional actions are required from the user. To open a document, just use the "Open with" context menu item. Standard Windows tools even allow you to associate the OpenDocument format with Microsoft Office components. In addition to the fact that the plugin allows you to open ODF-documents, it also adds to Word, Excel and PowerPoint functions to save projects in this format. After installing the plugin, the corresponding extension will be added to the format selector of the "Save As" window. The header of the saved file can contain Cyrillic characters.

Sun ODF Plugin is distributed by the developer absolutely free of charge. The extension works with Microsoft Office 2007 and above.

- Add ODF format support to Microsoft Office components;

- association of Word, Excel and PowerPoint files;

- support for Microsoft Office 2007 and higher;

- Automatic integration with the office suite during installation;

- distribution free of charge.
