The Toshiba Value Added Package (TVAP) is a collection of system components and utilities from Toshiba that enables and manages notebook-specific features on Toshiba laptops. It provides the link between Windows and the laptop hardware that other Toshiba programs rely on, and it makes functions such as Fn hotkeys, power management and hardware setup work as intended. It is not a single application but a set of background components and small utilities that other Toshiba programs and the Fn hotkeys depend on. TVAP is designed to help users get the most out of their Toshiba laptop.
Toshiba Value Added Package makes Toshiba-specific functions such as Fn hotkeys, power saving settings and hardware setup work on Toshiba laptops.
Features
• TOSHIBA Common Driver: provides an essential link to system resources, such as BIOS functions, that are required by several other TOSHIBA program components.
• TOSHIBA eco Utility: offers extended power control options and reduces power consumption by switching to optimum power settings depending on whether the laptop runs on AC power or on battery.
• TOSHIBA Power Saver: included in older versions of the package, provides more power management options, such as separate power profiles for AC and battery operation.
• TOSHIBA HWSetup: lets you customize hardware settings according to the way you work with the computer and the peripherals you use, for example the boot priority.
• TOSHIBA Password Utility: lets you set and maintain password security that restricts access to the computer.
• TOSHIBA Flash Cards: provides additional hotkey (Fn key) functions with a graphical drop-down menu that appears when a hotkey is pressed, and shows the status of the selected function. It replaces the older Hotkey Utility.
• TOSHIBA Zooming Utility: enlarges or reduces the icon size on the Windows desktop and the zoom factor in supported applications.
• TOSHIBA Button Support: controls the eco button and programmable buttons on models that have them and lets you change which application each button launches.
• TOSHIBA Accessibility: helps users with limited mobility by making the Fn key "sticky", so hotkeys can be used without holding two keys at the same time.
• TOSHIBA PC Diagnostic Tool: displays basic system configuration information and lets you test some of the built-in hardware devices of the computer.
• Installation order: TVAP should be installed before the other Toshiba utilities to ensure their proper functioning. The installer first extracts its files and then asks you to restart the computer after the installation.
• Model-specific builds: Toshiba released different versions of the package for different notebook series and Windows versions, from Windows XP to Windows 10, so the version should match your laptop model.
• Current status: the package is no longer developed. The Toshiba notebook business became Dynabook, and the Dynabook support site still offers the package for older models.
