The Trillian application was created as the best standalone chat client that supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger and IRC. Trillian has a lot of instant messaging and contact list management capabilities, and it has a lot of skins in its arsenal.

The Trillian program has features that are not available to original network clients. It supports standard features such as audio chat, file transfer, group chats, chat rooms, friend icons, multiple simultaneous connections to the same network, import of contacts, print notifications, direct connection (AIM), proxy support, encrypted messaging (AIM/ICQ), SMS support and settings to protect privacy.
