X-Chat is an IRC chat program. With X-Chat, you can simultaneously connect to many different chat rooms, communicate in private or public and share files. The interface of the program does not cause difficulties and provides a full set of standard features, typical for most IRC-clients. X-Chat users can customize fonts, wallpapers, the transparency of the program window, edit defaulted status messages, adjust sounds, network settings, etc. When new chat messages appear, the program may show a small pop-up window and flash an icon in the system tray.

X-Chat allows multi-channel, private and public communication with easy customization and instant notifications.

X-Chat seems to be the simple way of chatting without microphones and use of webcams. However, from the description, you're able to change your background, font, and join chatrooms. Which may be public or private, and you're able to share files among those who are in the chat rooms.
