A9CAD

A9CAD is a compact computer-aided design (CAD) system intended for modelling two-dimensional objects and editing 2D drawings in the DWG and DXF formats.

Due to the large number of tools and parameters in the interface, it can cause some difficulties at first glance. A9CAD allows you to draw graphical primitives on drawings: points, lines, polylines, rectangles, arcs, circles, ellipses, text, images and dimensions. It is possible to change the object's attributes in the properties panel: line type, color, layer, rotation angle, text style and many others.

Like most CAD programs, A9CAD supports copying, moving, scaling, rotating, mirroring and erasing selected objects. Objects can be broken into several smaller parts or exploded, and there are functions for trimming, extending, offsetting, filleting and joining objects. Commands can also be typed in a command line, and the SNAP, GRID, ORTHO and OSNAP modes help to place points precisely.

A9CAD allows efficient 2D object modeling and editing with an array of tools, maintaining high-quality drawings without critically loading computer's processor and memory.

The finished drawing can be exported to an EMF file or printed directly from the program. While creating a project, you can work with several layers in the Layer Manager, undo or repeat the last actions, zoom in and out, and insert the necessary images into the drawing.

Due to the compactness of the application, A9CAD does not create a critical load on the processor and memory and hardly affects the overall performance of the computer. The program is freeware from A9Tech; its last version, 2.2.1, is no longer developed, and its help file lists Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP, although it also starts on newer Windows versions. Summing up, this free and simple program is worth spending a little time on learning its interface and setting up the working process.
