OneNote Importer - Evernote to OneNote Migration Tool

OneNote Importer is a free utility from Microsoft for moving content from Evernote into OneNote. Microsoft released it for Windows in March 2016 to help Evernote users switch to OneNote, which is free on all devices. The tool takes your Evernote notes, including notes that contain attachments such as PDF files, images or Word documents, and recreates them as OneNote notebooks, sections and pages. It does not import content from other note-taking programs or from ordinary documents. The whole process runs on your PC and needs only a few clicks: sign in, pick the source and start the import.

OneNote Importer has a simple, wizard-like workflow that makes the migration straightforward. Here are the main features of this tool:

OneNote Importer moved a whole Evernote collection into OneNote in one pass, keeping notebooks, attachments and tags.

- Whole-account migration: the importer migrates all of your Evernote content into OneNote, so you do not have to move notes one by one.

- Two import sources: the tool reads the notes from Evernote for Windows installed on the same PC, which is the faster method, or from .enex files exported from Evernote.

- Notebook structure: your Evernote notebooks are recreated as notebooks in OneNote, with each note turned into a OneNote page.

- Attachments: files attached to Evernote notes are imported together with the note text.

- Tags: Evernote tags are converted into OneNote tags, so your existing organization of notes is kept after the move.

- Microsoft account: you sign in with a Microsoft account, and the imported notebooks become available in OneNote on your other devices, including Mac, iOS and Android.

- Free of charge: the importer itself costs nothing and does not require an Office subscription.

OneNote Importer is no longer an active product. When the Windows version was released, Microsoft also announced a Mac version to follow.Microsoft stopped supporting it in 2020 and retired the Evernote to OneNote Importer from service in September 2022. Existing copies of the program can still be run, but imports may fail with errors, and Microsoft does not fix them. The tool is still of interest to users who keep an old Evernote archive in .enex files and want to try moving it to OneNote on a Windows PC.
