This may be a drawback, as other services which are free do offer this as standard. Pidgin for Window's interface however is light and easy, and takes up little space on the desktop. It also has a free extension and is easy and quick to install. It is also highly customisable in its interface and has additional options which increases its flexibility.

Pidgin is a great, multi-platform chat client. It's very user friendly, and I appreciate the fact that it's open source and free. It's also lightweight, so it doesn't take up much of my computer's resources.
I've been using Pidgin for over 3 years and it's been working very well for me. I can connect to multiple chat networks at once, which is really convenient.
The support for plugins and themes makes it possible to customize the look and feel of the software. The user interface is also very intuitive, so it's easy to adjust the settings.
I'm also impressed with the range of features available, such as the ability to send files and use encryption.
Overall, Pidgin is a great piece of software that I use on a daily basis.
