SixaxisPairTool

Sixaxis Pair Tool is a small free utility from Dancing Pixel Studios that pairs Sony Sixaxis, DualShock 3, DualShock 4 and PlayStation Move Navigation controllers with the device you want to use them with. A PlayStation controller only connects over Bluetooth to its stored "master" address, and this tool lets you change that address from a Windows PC.

The program was released as a companion to the Sixaxis Controller app for Android, also made by Dancing Pixel Studios, which lets a rooted Android phone or tablet accept input from PlayStation controllers. After you tap Start in the Android app, it shows the Bluetooth address of the phone. You then connect the controller to the PC with a USB cable, run SixaxisPairTool and read the "Current Master" line, which shows the address of the device the controller is currently paired with in the xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx format.

To pair the controller with your phone, type the phone's address into the "Change Master" field exactly as shown and click the Update button. The Current Master value then changes to the new address, you can unplug the controller, and it connects to the phone over Bluetooth when you press the PS button. The window has only these two fields and the Update and Cancel buttons, so there is nothing else to configure.

The Windows setup of version 0.3.1 is about 25 MB because the installer also sets up the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime that the tool depends on. The developer also offered an older version 0.1 for users who had problems with the latest release, a Linux build based on Qt 5 and libusb, and a command-line sixpair utility for Mac OS X. The Dancing Pixel Studios website is no longer online, so the tool is not developed any more.

SixaxisPairTool is a simple one-purpose program: it does not map buttons or emulate a gamepad by itself, it only stores a new pairing address in the controller. It is mainly useful together with the Sixaxis Controller app, which then handles the controller input on the Android device.
