Chromium

Chromium is one of the most popular open-source projects at present, on which a large number of modern fast and powerful browsers are based, one of which is the famous Google Chrome. Chrome is Google's own build of this open source code. In general, the program looks very much like Google Chrome. But Chromium is mainly a development base rather than a finished consumer product: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Vivaldi, Brave and other browsers are built on it.

Let's see what the browser offers. It has the same Blink engine, tabbed interface, settings pages, built-in PDF viewer and incognito mode as Chrome, and it installs extensions from the Chrome Web Store. The multi-process sandbox isolates web pages from the rest of the system. However, builds downloaded from the project do not include Google API keys, so Google account sync and some other Google services are disabled. Chromium never sends crash reports or usage statistics to Google. Default builds lack the proprietary H.264 and AAC codecs, so some video sites may not play. There is no automatic updater: new builds must be downloaded manually.
