CurrPorts is a simple network monitoring program that displays a list of all currently open TCP/IP and UDP ports on the local computer. For every listed port it will display information about the process that opened that port including the name of the process, its full path, version information of the process, when the process began and who created it.
This is very useful information to see if your internet has slowed down for any reason because there may be an unknown entity utilizing your internet connection without your knowledge or permission. Often times these entities will use some sort of file sharing or file hosting on your computer which will greatly reduce the speed of your internet and leaving you liable for any legal issues. If CurrPorts identifies any ports that it believes are being used this way or other negative ways it will mark them in pink.
If you do identify any malicious uses of your ports, or just general use of your ports that you don't want CurrPorts will let you close those connections and kill the entire process that opened those ports. Additionally CurrPorts will let you save the information to an HTML, XML, or tab-delimited text file so you can further investigate later.
You can choose to filter ports so CurrPorts will only report on specific ports that you're concerned about through the easy to use options menu.
CurrPorts uses a very simple windows interface with simple clean icons allowing you to use all of its functionality in an intuitive process. You can right click on items that concern you for more details. You can then click again to shut down a port or kill a process. There is a built in help system so you can get more details about using CurrPorts.
CurrPorts works on any newer version of Windows. It is quick and easy to install running automatically from the downloaded file. Its freeware so you do not have to pay anything for it and can pass it along to as many people as you want.
CurrPorts gives you lots of detailed information about all open ports in a very simple interface.
