LeoCAD is an amazingly simple CAD program that uses Lego blocks as the design tool. It's very simple, intuitive, and overall quick to learn!

LeoCAD is great for any Lego enthusiast who wants to build amazing Lego creations but wants to make sure that they'll work before getting started on actually building them. LeoCAD uses a simple interface so even people who have no previous CAD experience will be able to jump in and start creating designs right away.

The main building screen first allows you to select your base so you have a limit on how large your creation can be. Then you get to select individual pieces that you want to add to your creation. LeoCAD's library is extensive here containing every piece released for the Lego system. It splits it up into the type of piece so you can more quickly and easily find what you're looking for. Once you find the right piece you can then choose its color so it will look perfect with your design!

Upon selecting the correct piece you can then drag it into place in the main screen. The pieces snap together just like with real pieces so it almost feels like you're really handling real Lego pieces! Once you're done creating your masterpiece you can use the cameras to pan around it to make sure that everything is fully functional and your masterpiece will really work!

If you're fully happy with your creation you can print our schematics so you can more easily build the physical version. You can also save the file and upload it to the web to share with other Lego fanatics! This also allows you to download other people's work so you can get inspirations for new design ideas or just see what else you can do!

LeoCAD runs on Windows, Linux, and macOS so you can download the version appropriate for your hardware. The program is completely free so you can download it and use it as much as you want without ever feeling any obligation to pay for it!

LeoCAD allows you to easily see your creation and understand exactly how it works before trying to actually build it!
Windows, Linux, or macOS operating system
OpenGL 2.1 or later hardware support
2 GB RAM or more recommended

PROS

Are you a fan of LEGO? With LeoCAD you can design virtual models for LEGO using bricks, similar to LEGO ones. The app comes with a big library which includes 1000 original pieces.
The app has lots of great features. For example, it’s possible to animate models with camera movements. Or you can measure the size of the elements.

Someone may be interested in changing the lighting for creating special effects. The app is easy to be used by beginners, but also has interesting features for professionals.
Users especially like that they can undo and redo changes.

LeoCAD users can use LDraw’s parts library without any problem. The app is free and has a cross-platform support.

I love playing with Legos and old gear. I also love working in an official environment similar to an architect. Who knew you could have your cake and eat it to? LeoCad allows for me to plan out my Lego designs in a unique environment. It's really great and fun to play around with.

This tool will allow you to design virtual models that you can then build by using LEGO bricks. It's cross-platform and open-source, meaning that it will work on Windows, Linux, and macOS while being able to review and modify the source code. It has an easy to use interface and it's compatible with the LDraw standard, allowing optimizations for large design models.

LeoCAD is software that allows a user to build with lego bricks in a virtual space. Reminds me a lot of AutoCAD and SketchUp and I think it is good if you want to do extra graphic presentation or are just having fun. Could be used to entertain or conduct excellent presentation. It looks like a lot of fun and is a good place to practice with 3D modeling with thousands of model pieces in a space without taking up too much space on your computer (70mb~) . Its free and worth the download. COOL, two thumbs up and my two big toes included.
