Modbus Poll

Modbus Poll is a Modbus master simulator designed primarily for developers of Modbus slave devices and for testing the Modbus protocol. The program uses the multiwindow mode for convenient display of various technical parameters in several tables at once: for each window you specify the slave ID, function, address, quantity and poll rate. Plus, you can leave notes (aliases) in individual cells.

The Modbus protocol itself was developed back in 1979, but even now you can find a large number of models of electronics using the standards of this protocol. Most often these are PLCs and other industrial controllers.

To start using the utility, you need to set up the connection (menu Connection -> Connect). The connection list offers Serial Port and Modbus TCP/IP as well as UDP/IP and RTU/ASCII over TCP/IP or UDP/IP variants. Of course, there are a few nuances here in terms of connection settings, registers, and poll rates. A ReadMe file with a quick start guide is installed together with the utility. The program itself contains a help with the description of all functions (Help -> Help Topics).

Modbus Poll enables efficient testing of the Modbus protocol in slave devices, providing detailed viewing of technical parameters in various tables.

Thanks to the use of OLE Automation technology, the program works with Excel: the example.xlsm workbook installed with the program shows how. Users can edit the data in Excel and then transmit it to a slave device with Modbus Poll. Data can also be logged directly to Excel or to a plain text file. Excel macros are written in VBA.

First of all, this program may be of interest to software developers and engineers who are closely connected with controllers, sensors or other electronic devices operating under the Modbus protocol. Modbus Poll is commercial software: the trial disconnects after 10 minutes of connection and stops connecting after 30 days.
