Soundplant is a digital audio program that turns a user's computer keyboard into a low-latency sound trigger and playable instrument. The program is able to assign sound files of any format and length to keyboard keys. Once the sounds are assigned, a user can play them back instantly, and unlimited polyphony allows many sounds to be mixed at once.

Soundplant uses no extra hardware, which makes it easy to set up anywhere. This program, therefore, suits performances, presentations or just plain leisure. It can be used to mix tracks in real time, to create unique music, beats and loops, or to trigger sound effects and background tracks during a show.

Finally, because this program is a standalone software sampler that uses the user's own sounds to build custom soundboards (keymaps), it is a flexible instrument that is limited only by the amount and type of content its user provides. With an easy to use graphical interface, a user can simply change the settings of each keyboard key along with other options such as key mode, fade times, looping, volume, pan and pitch, while each playing sound is shown with a progress bar and its track time.
