Sun Java JRE

Sun Java JRE is a runtime environment that allows you to work with programs created using the Java language. Since Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems in 2010, the runtime has been developed and distributed by Oracle as Java SE Runtime Environment 8. This runtime environment is required for the correct work of many desktop applications, including some games and development tools. Java applets in web pages, on the other hand, no longer run in modern browsers, which dropped support for the Java plug-in (Don't confuse Java and JavaScript). Often, software developers embed a Java Runtime Environment into the installation package. But there are exceptions.

Installation of the runtime environment takes place quite quickly. The online installer downloads the required files, while the offline installers from the manual download page contain everything for 32-bit or 64-bit Windows. It does not require prior configuration, and Java settings are available later in the Java Control Panel. The bundled Java Update component checks for new versions on a schedule. If any of these are found, the user will be notified and prompted to download and install the updated version. Oracle Java 8 is free for personal use and for development, while commercial use of current updates requires a paid Java SE subscription.
