Aseprite is an application to create animated sprites and graphics. This is an open source tool.

Users can create 2D animations directly within it for their video games. It can also be used for creating pixel art or retro type graphics. Users also have the ability to create animations for 8-bit or 16-bit generation consoles.

Aseprite comes with a Steam account for free. It is also DRM-free. This tool only supports the Windows operating system.

However, this tool can not do all advanced animations in it like bone-rigging or mesh deformation. Beginners might face difficulties in creating graphical images using this application.

If you are making a game that requires 8 bit or 16bit quality sprites, this software is a must have. There are other sprite making softwares out there, but sometimes the ability to animate and save appropriate formats is not present. This one has it all, is available via Steam, and is free and open source. Good deal.

This software makes animation very very easy, simple and straightforward. I'm so surprised I only had to pay $15 for this compared to big expensive software that make you pay an arm and a leg!I totally recommend to any artist that wants to try out animation on a budget.

I only use a few good tools in my making of pixel art and have found no problems thus far in my usage of Aseprite. If you want pixel art software at a reasonable price with ease of use for making, editing, or animating pixel art with a good deal of functions, get Aseprite! My work would be much more difficult if I didn't have this great software.
