Many users are biased against Internet Explorer, believing that the software built into the system is not worthy of attention. It was long believed that IE is characterized by low speed and lack of additional plug-ins. Internet Explorer 10 answered much of this criticism. Microsoft released it in 2012 together with Windows 8 and in 2013 for Windows 7, when it competed with Mozilla Firefox, Chrome and Opera. It brought a faster JavaScript engine and broad support for HTML5 and CSS3, including CSS3 transitions, animations, gradients and multi-column layouts. Hardware acceleration lets you watch videos without hang-ups and ensures smooth operation of web page content. On Windows 8 the browser also came as a touch-optimized full-screen version with an ergonomic design and carefully adjusted sizes of controls.

The browser provides the ability to open your favorite web resources by pressing a single button. Tab support ensures reliable work with several sites at the same time. Quick switching between tabs creates comfortable conditions for daily work with this browser. Internet Explorer dialogs do not pop up randomly, but are organized in a special notification bar at the bottom of the window. You won't be distracted by annoying system messages while looking for information or watching videos. For security, the SmartScreen filter warns about phishing and malware sites, an XSS filter blocks malicious scripts, and Enhanced Protected Mode isolates web pages on Windows 8. Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer 10 in January 2016 on most systems (January 2020 on Windows Server 2012) and retired Internet Explorer in 2022, so the browser no longer receives security updates.

Internet Explorer 10 offers hardware-accelerated rendering, HTML5 support and a touch-friendly interface for Windows 7 and Windows 8 PCs.

Domain highlighting allows you to distinguish the real site from fake pages. Also, the frequent sites list on the new tab page and pinned sites make it easier to return to the pages you visit most. Optional add-ons are able to extend the functionality of the Explorer, and Adobe Flash Player is built in on Windows 8. You can also watch and subscribe to RSS feeds. You will receive new content from them automatically when you load your browser. Internet Explorer 10 also added built-in spell checking in text fields and sent the Do Not Track signal by default.
