Internet Explorer is one of the best-known web browsers, and for many years it was installed on your computer along with the Windows operating system. Internet Explorer 11 is the last version of the browser; it was released in October 2013 with Windows 8.1 and was later also included in Windows 10. Because early versions of the browser were quite "raw" and not free of shortcomings, the program gained a rather dubious reputation among users. With its later versions Microsoft improved speed and web standards support considerably, and for a while the browser could compete with Firefox, Chrome and Opera.

The changes primarily affected the graphical interface of the browser. It became much more comfortable and practical. In the updated graphical shell, the main area of the main Internet Explorer window is devoted to the page display, and all tools are located on a thin strip at the top. The speed of page loading has also increased considerably. Among other important features of the browser are a convenient favorites bar, F12 developer tools, support for WebGL and HTML5 prerender and prefetch, the ability to install add-ons and Enterprise Mode for older business sites. Internet Explorer 11 runs on Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, but not on Windows Vista or XP. Microsoft ended support for it on most versions of Windows 10 on June 15, 2022 and disabled it through a Microsoft Edge update in February 2023; the IE mode in Microsoft Edge now opens legacy sites.

Internet Explorer 11 provides fast page loading, supports the web standards of its time and includes Enterprise Mode for older sites.
