LibreWolf is an open-source, secure, and privacy-focused web browser designed for everyone. It is designed to increase protection against tracking and fingerprinting and to provide a secure and private browsing experience without telemetry. LibreWolf is based on the Firefox codebase and is compatible with Firefox extensions and themes. It comes with a range of settings and patches to make browsing more secure and more private.
LibreWolf provides a secure, privacy-focused web browser built on Mozilla Firefox source code.
Features
LibreWolf offers a range of features to ensure a secure and private browsing experience.
Secure Browsing: LibreWolf enables HTTPS-only mode, stricter TLS negotiation rules and protection against IDN homograph attacks. It is always built from the latest stable Firefox source, so security patches arrive quickly.
Private Browsing: LibreWolf enables Total Cookie Protection and strict Tracking Protection, deletes cookies and website data on close, and uses resist-fingerprinting (RFP) to make users look the same to websites. It also uses privacy-respecting search engines such as DuckDuckGo by default.
No Distractions: LibreWolf removes sponsored content from the home page, Pocket, Mozilla VPN ads and extension recommendations, and it disables autoplay of media and ads in the address bar.
Compatibility: LibreWolf is compatible with Firefox extensions and themes. It also supports modern web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
Customization: LibreWolf offers an array of customization options. You can customize the look and feel of the browser with themes, and a dedicated LibreWolf section in the settings exposes the most important privacy and security options.
Privacy Add-Ons: LibreWolf comes with the uBlock Origin content blocker preinstalled with custom filter lists, to block ads and trackers out of the box.
Optional Syncing: Firefox Sync is disabled by default, but it can be enabled in the LibreWolf settings to sync bookmarks, passwords, and browsing history across devices.
Extensions Support: LibreWolf supports a wide range of Firefox extensions for additional features and functions.
Multi-Platform Support: LibreWolf is available for Windows, macOS, Linux and OpenBSD; there is no Android version. On Windows it comes as an installer, a portable version and a Microsoft Store app, with the optional WinUpdater for automatic updates.
Open Source: LibreWolf is open source, which means its code is available for anyone to view and inspect. The project is community driven, collects no telemetry or data of any kind and does not accept donations.
