USB Network Gate is developed by Electronic Team, Inc., the company formerly known as Eltima Software. USB Network Gate for Windows is a powerful software tool that enables you to share any USB device, for example, printers, scanners, webcams, USB speakers, and more, so that remote computers can use them as if they were connected locally. These devices can be accessed either over a local network or from the internet. To achieve this, the program sends USB traffic over TCP/IP and creates a virtual copy of the shared device on the client computer. It can also pass USB devices into a virtual machine running under VMware, Hyper-V or Citrix.

All you have to do is install USB Network Gate on the computer with the device (the server) and on the remote computers (the clients), and in just a few simple steps the shared devices, which may physically be located miles away, become accessible through the client's device manager. To put it simply, remote or client computers can connect to your computer and communicate with your shared remote ports. It is as if these USB devices are connected directly to the client computers. It does not need extensive configuration.

The program comes with an easy to use interface with clear tabs for local and remote USB devices, which makes it easy to learn. There are useful features, such as the ability to enable encryption, password authorization, or traffic compression. An important detail is that while you get to share the USB devices, it is actually the USB ports that are being shared. This means that you can plug another USB device into a shared port and it will automatically appear at your remote client site without having to change any configuration. So you are not limited to one device and can switch them in and out as you need. Only one computer can use a shared device at a time.

Another useful function is USB device isolation: on a terminal server with many Remote Desktop sessions, each shared device can be made visible only to a specific user or session. For example, this helps when several remote users work with their own printers or dongles on the same server. USB devices can also be redirected into RDP sessions.

USB Network Gate is a commercial program with a free trial, and a free edition for non-commercial use shares a single device. Versions also exist for macOS, Linux and Android, so a device can be shared on one platform and used on another.

Your USB devices can be used from remote computers anywhere in the world, as if they were plugged in locally.
