Standalone Flash Player

Standalone Flash Player is a small free program for Windows that plays Flash files outside the web browser. It opens ShockWave Flash movies and games (.SWF) and Flash Video files (.FLV) in its own window, so you do not need to open a web page or rely on a browser plug-in to view them. The program was released by StandaloneFlashPlayer.com for Windows XP and Vista and still starts on later versions of Windows; the last version is 1.2, and it is no longer developed. It is not an Adobe product: it is built on the playback components of Adobe Flash Player, and its installer checks whether these components are present and adds the files it needs. The player is useful for viewing saved Flash animations, old Flash games and presentations that were distributed as SWF files.
