Vuze

Vuze is a Windows BitTorrent client, formerly known as Azureus, used to download torrents, or in other words, files shared over the BitTorrent network. It is written in Java and can play many downloaded video and audio files, such as MP4 or MP3, even while they are still downloading.

One quick perk to take into account is its quick and easy setup, as well as its user-friendly interface. Some of the features of this software include the ability to change the user interface to account best for your own personal skill level in torrent software.

The three skill levels are divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced. This skill division does not change the ability of the software, but instead just makes it more comfortable for individuals who may not have as much experience when it comes to the use of torrenting software.

Vuze combines torrent downloading, search, subscriptions and media playback in one free client with a beginner mode.

Another key benefit of this software is its privacy options: Vuze can use the Tor and I2P anonymity networks for part of its traffic. In addition, the long list of plugins allows each user to extend the client and make the workspace truly their own.

With the Web Remote feature, one can additionally start and stop torrent downloads from a smartphone or another computer while away from the main PC or laptop. A paid Vuze Plus subscription removes the ads and adds antivirus scanning of downloads, DVD burning and the Play Now feature for watching files before the download finishes.

One of the last little benefits offered by Vuze is the built-in meta search, which looks for torrents on several sites at once, together with subscriptions that download new content automatically. The installer may offer third-party software, so read each setup step carefully. As a torrent user, it is always important to remember to use a VPN if intending to use software such as Vuze.

Vuze is no longer actively developed: its main developers moved on to the BiglyBT fork in 2017, but the last release of Vuze is still available from the official website.
